Questions NRI buyers ask.
Can NRIs buy residential property in India?
Yes. NRIs and OCI card holders can buy residential property in India without RBI approval. Agricultural land and farmhouses are the exceptions.
Which account should I pay from?
Payments must come through normal banking channels: an NRE, NRO or FCNR account in India, or an inward remittance from abroad.
Is TDS deducted when an NRI sells later?
Yes. The buyer deducts TDS on capital gains. Your CA can apply for a lower deduction certificate. We are happy to introduce our panel CA.
Can someone sign on my behalf?
Yes, with a registered power of attorney. We share a format that your bank and our legal team already accept.
